About the application process: general information and checklists
Applications for the MArch, MSAUD, and MA/PhD programs are completed via the UCLA Application for Graduate Admission. For Fall 2027 matriculation, applications open October 1, 2026, with application deadline January 6, 2027.
MArch, MSAUD, and MA/PhD candidates are notified of admissions and financial decisions in March.

MA/PhD application checklist
If you are applying for the undergraduate major in Architectural Studies, you first need to fill out the general University of California application (due November 30, 2026), and then submit a supplement via SlideRoom (due January 20, 2027). Undergraduate admission notifications are released in mid- to late April.
MArch Professional Degree
A three-year, NAAB-accredited program that prepares students for professional practice and other career paths.
MS in Architecture and Urban Design (MSAUD)
A one-year post-professional degree that combines theory and practical applications in collaboration with industry partners.
Undergraduate Studies
A two-year major that begins in the junior year of residence. This program is not NAAB-accredited but provides a strong foundation for students who pursue graduate studies in architecture and other related fields.
MA & PhD in Architecture
Academic graduate degrees include the Master of Arts in Architecture (MA) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
