POOL announces call for submissions for Issue No. 8: "Residue"
Dec 2, 2022
POOL's 2022-2023 Editorial Team is pleased to announce the call for submissions for POOL Issue No. 8: "Residue."
Editors invite contributors to explore, study, or stage residue, engage its cross-disciplinary activity, and test the limits of what residues produce. What remains after the others have moved on? What are the consequences of those movements? Visit POOL's website for complete details.
POOL invites submission of any form of communicative media and encourages both content endemic to academic publishing such as essays and drawings, and unconventional media such as comics, experimental films and syllabi. Accepted content will be considered for the 2023 print issue or published digitally on a rolling basis. Submissions for print are due by February 13, 2023. All materials should be submitted digitally to pool@aud.ucla.edu.
POOL is the student magazine of the Department of Architecture & Urban Design at the University of California, Los Angeles. The journal is driven by an interest in an expanding definition of architectural work that, in a culture of high volume content exchange, considers curation as a primary form of cultural production. Following this, editors contend that the syllabus, the archive, and the aggregator are all valid forms of architectural work that we welcome and encourage in our publication.
The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts recently honored POOL in its annual cycle of grants and awards; POOL was one of 36 recipients from around the world among the Graham’s Grants to Organizations, joining four other awardees in the Student-Led Publications category.
