Prefab Urban Cohousing
401 Advanced Topics Studio
2020
This studio explored contemporary urbanism, the multi-family residential building typology, and the current housing shortage in Southern California by seeking novel architectural solutions that utilize prefabricated building systems. Students designed a cohousing community that promotes social interactions and develop new concepts of organization and assembly to challenge the monotonous stacks of boxes and conventional mass-to-site relationships that are predominant in the recent modular construction.
