The points and lines that describe the plans of Mies van der Rohe’s trio of self-initiated, unrealized ‘Core House’ projects serve as both inspiration and a precise launching pad for this course. The fascination is not so much with the drawings as unrealized buildings but rather as abstract, 2-D organizational arrangements. Economically contained within Mies’s squares, these points and lines will be drawn, re-drawn and repositioned to create two new primitive objects that establish sites for parallel projects.
