Divergent Conventions

122 Studio II
2020

The studio examines the contemporary trajectories of 3 representational conventions in architecture: Plan, Axonometric, and Elevation. Each mode of representation will seek to drive its own autonomous polemics, aesthetics, and politics in the context of the project without privileging a 3D digital model as the center of design generation. The ambition is to explore an architectural project through divergent representational conventions in the post-digital era. The students will speculative on the co-habitation of 2 separate families on a single residential subdivision plot in Los Angeles.
