AUD alumni Ellie Abrons, Adam Fure, Mira Henry among Architectural Record's 2025 Design Vanguard
Jun 24, 2025
UCLA Architecture and Urban Design alumni Ellie Abrons (MArch ‘06), Adam Fure (MArch ‘06), Mira Henry (MArch ‘10), and their respective practices have been named to Architectural Record’s 2025 Design Vanguard. Abrons and Fure’s T+E+A+M (with Thom Moran and Meredith Miller), and Henry’s Current Interests (with Matthew Au), join eight other practices among this year’s Design Vanguard honorees.
Each year, Architectural Record’s editors select ten practices from around the world to feature in the print magazine (this year, the June 2025 issue). Architectural Record launched the Design Vanguard program in 2000 and describes it as “Record’s annual showcase of young talent.”
T+E+A+M, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, co-formed around the 2016 Venice Biennale, where the four founders presented a proposal to transform a derelict plant in Detroit into a campus dedicated to material reuse. The team’s research since then has centered around material experimentation, among other themes. All four teach at the University of Michigan’s Taubman School, where Abrons is Associate Professor of Architecture and Director of the Digital Studies Institute, and Fure is Associate Professor of Architecture.
LA-based Current Interests describes itself as “dedicated to the social, spatial, and material liveliness of architecture.” Au and Henry founded the practice in 2017. Together, they have designed and constructed a wide range of complex building programs, including public cultural projects, residences, commercial spaces, and museum exhibitions.
