Mini Colloquium: House to Housing
Organized by Claus Benjamin Freyinger
With housing as an ongoing theme for AUD's undergraduate and MArch core studios, AUD's Claus Benjamin Freyinger has organized, with the insight and support of AUD's Dana Cuff, a mini-colloquium to share and incubate thoughts around architecture's and the architect's roles in one of today's most urgent issues. A series of presentations and discussions will take up a range of house typologies, from the Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) and the single-family, to housing at the scale of "small clusters": city blocks composed of small enclaves, or even communes of sorts or new forms of student housing.
Freyinger will moderate presentations and responses from a range of design practitioners and observers, including:
Julie Eizenberg, Founding Principal, KoningEizenberg
Jose Herrasti and Fernanda Oppermann, Co-Principals, MUTUO
Louisa Van Leer, Founding Principal, Louisa Van Leer Architecture
Frances Anderton, former KCRW host, and author of Common Ground: Multifamily Housing in Los Angeles
Sascha Delz, architect, researcher, and Assistant Professor, USC School of Architecture
