More about the IDEAS Mobility Studio:
Health Density: Mobility of People and Air, with Greg Lynn and Yara Feghali
The mobility of people without recourse to cabins, shaft ways, cores, or corridors, and the equitable and maximum mobility of fresh air from outside into and through buildings is the studio’s mission. Where land use and real estate decisions that precede building design determines public health, the vision of the studio is to place optimization of fresh air access by design in constructive dialogue with real world challenges. With justifiable cause, enclosed moving cabins and enclosed rooms with strangers are now feared and avoided. The studio will focus on creating access to fresh air. Fundamental to the studio is a shift from defining value by quantity and proportion of volume to the velocity of flow. Agent based particle simulation tools scaling from a person down to a voxel of cubic air will be our visualization and modelling medium. Computational fluid dynamics will simultaneously inform the movement of people and air.
As a result of public health precautions put in place by the university, this event will be hosted virtually via Zoom.
